eGpu

eGpu

Unique Egpu enclosures based on Akito Thunderbolt2 boards featuring a Nvidia GTX 980Ti founder’s edition.
Initially developed for MacBoo pro 2015 (Tb2) to run C4d/Octane.
Works flowlessly under Osx up to 10.13 but since Apple has dropped Nvidia support, only AMD Metal compatible GPU as well as a new Tb3 board will be necessary .
For windows, most Tb2 equipped laptops should work but only tested on MBP bootcamp win10.
Some problems can occur with win10 updates but solvable. Gaming and CUDA rendering are as stable and performant as with a desktop setup. Most setup should work with https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/automate-egpu-efi-egpu-boot-manager-for-macos-and-windows/

Some Features :

  • GTX 980Ti founder’s edition (modded with external temp sensor)
  • Akito thunberbolt 2 pci-e board
  • Modded Zippy EMACS 300W P1G-6300P (Clean and stable)
  • MakerBeam 10×10 frame
  • 3D printed light diffuser
  • Front facing touch screen (Nextion)
  • Arduino Teensy 3.5
  • Displays Real time power consumption
  • Displays Gpu, PSU and Box temp
  • Timer (needs patch)
  • Fan speed configuration with min max temps.
  • Light intensity control
  • 7x Led pattern selection
  • 2x 100mm and 2x 40mm Nocturna fans for Box and PSU.
All led patterns activity/luminosity/speed are driven by the GPU power consumption and temperature monitoring.  Ideal when using eGpu for realtime 3D rendering like Octane as you can monitor the GPU activity in realtime, giving you an idea about optimum configuration.
This is a DYI project. Beware of the risk when attempting to tinker with a power supply and main.
